Day Four: My Views on Religion

I’m pro-spirituality && anti-religion. But no one asked about my views on spirituality.

I was raised Protestant Christian with exposure to Catholicism and Taoism.

One of the main themes I learned in AP History back in high school was that religion has been used throughout history for money and political power. It has been used to maintain the hierarchy of things and to placate poor peasants. It has been used as justification to kill en masse.

I respect the religion of others, but I don’t need anyone’s help, ritual, or structure to have my own relationship with a higher power. I respect how religion can give many something to turn to and a way to tap into inner strength. I respect how people feel it keeps them from feeling alone.

However, I think religion is too often used as a tool for control. You can keep that, thanks.

Day Three: My Views on Drugs and Alcohol

Everything in moderation, kiddos, unless you have addiction in your family line, in which case, you’re at 50%+ chance of being genetically disposed to addiction.

I get what it’s like to wanna make bad feelings go away, but it’s temporary, and you learn nothing.

I also get what it’s like to just want to have a good time.

I’ve known dealers, casual users, addicts, medicinal users, blah, blah, blah.

It’s too easy for drugs to become a crutch, but to each her own.

Day Two: In Ten Years

In ten years I’ll be:

-still married

-prolly a mama, unless something weird happens

-still female

-hopefully alive

-34 years old

nothing is promised, everything is possible.

Day One: Better Late Than Never

Remember that 30 Day Challenge? Yeah, Good thing to do when you’re in a three hour long class. Besides I’m trying to create more and consume less.

Day One: My Current Relationship

…is Team Awesome. It’s based on silliness, brutal honesty, acceptance, utter adoration, and frequent displays of affection.

I’m married. I can’t imagine a better relationship, really. I can’t imagine a better partner. I think I used to think there was no such thing as a perfect match, but maybe that’s some bullshit people tell themselves to protect their hearts from disappointment.

It’s totally easy going. We’re best friends, lovers, partners.

No holds barred.

I want this post to take up more time, but…it’s that simple. Maybe I’ll just go catch up on other days…

I love this! Maybe I’ll get on it too…

krysjill:

Several friends on my Dashboard have started this “30 Day Challenge.” This one actually seemed interesting, and some are topics about which I don’t usually share unless I’m in a nice chat by a campfire or some other such setting. I kind of miss the days in college when I’d get into long chats…
